Don’t takeover Temples and Mutts: Sanyasins

Sanyasis in Kerala presented a memorandum to the chief minister demanding to withdraw the orders to takeover the administration of ashrams, matt’s and temples in North Kerala. They urged the government not to take any steps to disturb the present system of administration of temples and ashrams.

The sanyasins representing all mutts and ashrams in Kerala explained to the chief minister about the present position of administration of temples and ashrams. They said the action of Malabar devaswom board and government to takeover hindu religious and charitable institutions is a clear violation of the constitutional rights of hindus.

Recently, the government issued a notification to takeover Thrikkaikkad madom founded by Sankaracharya and appointed an executive officer to administer the madom. Chief Minister agreed to examine the matter and assured to apprise the position to devaswom minister.
